Right now in Eau Claire it is 37 degrees F with overcast skies. It has been cloudy and chilly all day (which is really disappointing for the beginning of May). The winds are mild coming from the North at 3 mph. The sky is completley covered with stratocumulus clouds so I don't think we will be seeing any precipitation within the next 24 hours. For tomorrow, I think we will see clearer skies with higher temperatures than today. The wind should stay consistent over the next day.
Midwest US Current Weather

Monday, April 25, 2011

Currently in Eau Claire it is 57 degrees F with moderate winds, 12 MPH, coming from the East. The sky is clear right now but the wind direction is supposed to change to the NE, which means that we will most likely experience some precipitation within the next 24 hours. Today was very nice out, the high was 68 degrees F with blue skies all day! For tomorrow, I expect rain throughout the day with cloudy skies because of the direction of the wind and the wind speed. I also think the temperature will drop and not be as warm as it was today.

Tuesday, April 19, 2011

My previous prediction was somewhat correct. We have recieved precipitation since last night but not as much as I expected. Currently in Eau Claire it is 32 degrees F with an overcast sky. It has stopped snowing/raining for now. There are mild winds coming from the NE at 7 mph. Earlier this evening it started lightly snowing but none of it was sticking to the ground. Now you can start to see the snow outside but it is not nearly as much as forecasters were expecting. Because of the current weather I think it will snow more tonight but clear up tomorrow morning when the winds switch from NE to NW.

Monday, April 18, 2011

Today's weather was better than the weekend's. This weekend was chilly with even some flurries on Saturday. Currently in Eau Claire it is 40 degrees F with mild winds at 6 mph coming from the NE. Cloud coverage is around 90% of stratus clouds. The winds are coming from the NE with mostly cloudy skies, which could mean that severe weather conditions are moving in. I predict that over the next day we will experience some crazy weather for April, a snowstorm. I think we can expect snowfall/rain into Wednesday morning.

Tuesday, April 12, 2011

Today I am in Washington, DC for the Experimental Biology Conference. It was very nice today; sunny all day with about 10% cloud coverage. Currently in Washington, DC it is 72 degrees F with the dew point at 52 degrees. There is mild wind here, approximately 5 mph coming from the WSW which I would think would be coming from the Continental Tropical Air Mass. Over the past few hours of the night the clouds have increased to about 75% of nimbostratus clouds. I expect there to be rain within the next few hours and that tomorrow be cloudy as well.

Wednesday, April 6, 2011

Currently is it 49 degrees F on campus with the dew point at 29. There are also very mild winds on campus coming from the NW. The sky is clear with no clouds. Earlier today there were a few clouds, about 15% coverage of cumulohumilis clouds. The highest temperature during the day was about 60 degrees. It was very nice spring weather! For tomorrow, I predict that it will be warmer out but not as warm is today, possibly with more clouds.

Monday, April 4, 2011

In Eau Claire, WI, it is currently 36 degrees F with moderate winds making it a little chilly outside. The wind is about 9 mph coming from the WNW and the dew point is at 19 degrees F. There was no precipitation today other than a few sprinkles during the early morning. The sky is relatively clear, only about 10% cloud coverage. Since the wind is coming from the NW, I do not predict any precipitation within the next 24 hours. Tomorrow we should see more of the same, partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the high 40s.

Monday, March 28, 2011

Today was a bit chilly! Right now it is currently 22 degrees F with the wind chill also at 22 degrees. The dew point is at 7 degrees. The wind is coming from the NNE at about 3 miles per hour. The sky is clear which may be the reason why it is chillier than usual. There are no blanket clouds to keep us warm! Because there are no clouds I do not expect that there will be any precipitation soon. If there were clouds, I would predict there would be because the winds are coming from the NNE. I think tomorrow will be about the same temp, in the 30s with sunny skies.

Snow?

It started snowing last night in Appleton, WI. First we recieved graupel and then came the snow! In the past 24 hours we have recieved 6.4 inches and in the remainder of the day we are to recieve about 2-4 more inches of snow. It is currently 27 degrees F with 16 mph wind coming from the NE (which is why I am assuming we are having a snow storm). Cloud coverage is 100% with cumulostratus clouds. Until tomorrow morning I expect more snow accumulation and then I predict the clouds with thin out making way for partly sunny skies tomorrow with temperatures warming up.

Thursday, March 17, 2011

Today was foggy for the majority of the day, which made travel difficult. It is currently 43 degrees F here in Eau Claire with the wind chill at 37F. We also recieved some light drizzle throughout the day. The fog was evaporation fog because it occured over large areas of snow. There is about 40% cloud coverage with altostratus clouds. The barometric pressure is at 29.85 and rising rapidly. Because the barometric pressure is rising rapidly I predict that we will not recieve anymore precipitation in the next 24 hours and it will cool down to the 30s. We can also expect some clearer skies tonight and tomorrow.

Monday, March 14, 2011

Today was beautiful outside! It was mostly sunny all day, but it started off chillier this morning but was at 32 degrees F at 930 AM. There was also radiation fog this morning across the middle of Wisconsin as I was driving to Eau Claire. Right now it is currently 37 degrees F with the dew point at 25 degrees F. It is mostly sunny with about 30% cloud coverage of stratus clouds. There are mild winds coming from the South at 5 mph. Because of the wind direction and cloud coverage, I predict that tomorrow we will see higher temps in the 40s with party sunny skies.

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

Today was much chillier than the last two days! My previous prediction that it was going to snow was incorrect. We have not seen any precipitation since last weekend. It is currently 13 degrees F here in Eau Claire, WI with the dewpoint at -2 degrees. There are stratus cloud covering about 50 % of the sky. The wind is very mild, 5 mph coming from the ENE. Because the wind is coming from the ENE, I predict that we can see some snow over the next 24 hours. I also think that it will warm up tomorrow, at least warmer than it was today!

Monday, February 28, 2011

Today was mostly sunny with some clouds in the sky. It is currently 21 degrees F with mild wind coming from the SSW. It has not snowed since Saturday when we got about 2-3 inches of snow throughout the evening. Right now the cloud coverage is 50% with the wind chill at 16 degrees F. For tomorrow, I expect partly cloudy skies again as it was today with some possible snow showers. I expect the temperature to be in the low 30s with moderate winds.

Friday, February 25, 2011

The current temperature in Eau Claire is 6 degrees F with roughly 75% stratus cloud coverage. The wind is mild, about 5 mph coming from the WNW. Today seemed warmer outside but as the day went on it became very chilly! Because of the amount of cloud coverage I predict we can expect some snow over the next 24 hours with colder temperatures as we saw today.

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

The temperature outside is 31 degrees F with about 75% cloud coverage. It was partly sunny early today and around 35 degrees. There are mild winds coming from the NW. There has been no precipitation since Monday night. For tomorrow, I do not predict any snow. Tomorrow should be in the low 30s and partly sunny again with moderate winds coming from the NW.

Tuesday, February 22, 2011

It is currently 23 degrees F with approximately 75% cloud coverage. Today was mostly sunny with clear skies, just as I had hoped! It was much nicer outside than the last two days when it was cloudy and snowing. There is no precipitation right now. For tomorrow, I think it will be about the same, right around 30-35 degrees with a few clouds.

Monday, February 21, 2011

Today we have recieved more snow and it is still snowing outside. It is currently 17 degrees but it feels much colder than that- around 6 degrees F. The sky is covered with clouds, about 90 % coverage and there is a light snowfall that has accumlated to 3 inches in the last day. There is also some moderate winds still coming from the ENE as they were yesterday and last night. Because of the cloud coverage, I believe that we can expect it to snow on and off into tomorrow morning. Tomorrow will be around 30 degrees with hopefully some sunshine!
US: Current Snow Cover

Sunday, February 20, 2011

The midwest is experiencing another snow storm! It is currently 28 degrees in Eau Claire with 100% cloud coverage. It is snowing and has been since late this morning. It is estimated that we have recievd about 4 inches of snow and that we could get up to 18 inches by the time it is done snowing. There are moderately strong winds- currently 27 mph coming from the ENE. There is a band of the snow storm stretching from the Dakotas to Michigan. Because of the current storm, I predict that it will continue to snow into tomorrow with strong winds causing travel to be very difficult (maybe even a snow day?)

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

Today's weather was beautiful! My forecast for the day was correct. The temperature got up into the high 40s and was partly sunny for the majority of the day. There were a few clouds in the sky- about 30% cloud coverage with mild winds coming from the south. It is currently 40 degrees outside with winds coming from the SSE. Because of all the clouds we have been seeing and with winds coming from the south, I believe we can expect some precipitation within the next 24 hours. If it is during the day, we can expect rain, and if it throughout the night it will be more likely snow. I also think we can expect warm temps tomorrow along with some sunny skies!

Tuesday, February 15, 2011

My forecast for today was correct! It was still warm outside today- around 40 degrees with a fair amount of cloud coverage. Currently, there is about 50% cloud coverage and the temperature is 37 degrees F. That is pretty warm for 9 o'clock! There is also no precipitation and very mild winds right now. For tomorrow, I think that we can expect the same type of weather. It will be right around the 40 degree mark tomorrow with clouds, very similar to today. Lets hope this weather continues on this path!

Monday, February 14, 2011

The weather today is much nicer than last week. It has warmed up outside, especially during the weekend. The current cloud coverage is at about 70% and it is right around 30 degrees. There is a little bit of sunshine as well. The wind is mild around 7 mph coming from the northwest. Based on the current conditions, I predict that it will stay warmer because the clouds are creating a blanket for us. Tomorrow will continue to be warmer with mild winds and clouds as well.

BRRRR!!

Today it is VERY cold outside, about only 8 degrees without the wind chill! It is also sunny with moderate winds coming from the west. There is currently 0% cloud coverage. Because there are no clouds in the sky, I do not anticipate there will be any precipitation today or tonight. I predict that for tomorrow it will start to warm up a little bit and we can expect some clouds to come in. I also think the direction of the wind will change from west to northern winds.

Superbowl Weather!

My previous forecast was partly incorrect. It did stay warmer outside today but it did not snow! It is currently in the low 30's with about 75% cloud coverage. The southwestern part of the sky has darker clouds than the northern sky. The winds are also mild right now. Because of these darker clouds I think that we can expect a few flurries between now and tomorrow. Either way- its a great day for the Packers to win the Superbowl. Go Packers!!!

Saturday, February 5, 2011

Tonigh the sky is filled with clouds- about 95% coverage. It was also cloudy all day but warmer than it has been this week. The wind is also mild tonight. My previous forecast was correct in saying that it would be warmer than the day before. Because of the cloud coverage and warmer air- I predict that tomorrow will be warmer as well with some snow flurries throughout the day. The wind will also pick up to a moderate speed compared with the mild wind today.

Today's Weather: Sunny and COLD!!

Currently, it is sunny with blue skies and only about 10% cloud coverage. Don't let this sunny day fool you though, it is chilly outside! The wind is moderately heavy coming from the South, Southwest that is probably making it seem colder than what it really is. Outside it feels like it is in the teens but it is actually 22 degrees F right now. Based on the direction of the wind, I predict that the wind will die down and it will start to feel warmer tomorrow along with more clouds.

Today's Weather Conditions

Today it lightly snowed for the majority of the day until recently. Snow accumulation was approximately one to two inches. Currently, the sky is covered with clouds with a very slight breeze towards the north. Due to the cloud coverage I think that tonight and tomorow we can expect more snow with a light wind.
